Preparations for a new season.

It is hard to believe that out first season is behind us.  The garden has become still, with only some snow peas and lettuce clinging on hoping for one or two more weeks of mild weather.  However my thoughts of having a little time for playing catch up and clean up around the farm seems to have been wrong.  The chickens have finally started laying eggs, the pigs are starting to get butchered,  and we are jumping right into preparations for next season.  I am currently building some terraced gardens for herbs, garlic, and an assortment of flowers for next years CSA shares (Hopefully to be done this week!).   We are planning out 1000'+ of drainage so our season doesn't get delayed like last year, and over 8000 feet of drip irrigation to be as accurate and responsible with the water we have.  We have rebuilt our mountain of leaves consisting of about 10 to 15 tons of beautiful future compost.  We are in the design stage of better storage facilities for fruits, veggies, and meat, and a beautiful rustic pavilion for a centralized pickup location at the farm.  We are also in the Planning stages of possibly starting a meat CSA for next year starting later in the summer.   Check back soon as I will be adding pics of the gardens and keeping you posted as the work progresses along.
